It's the most wonderful time of the year--time for the Yarnover! It's three full days of yarn, knitting, food, and fun. Plus, we have Laura Bryant, owner of Prism Yarns, back from popular demand!
Our event begins Thursday evening and runs through Sunday morning. You'll be taking classes led by Laura (color and fit and more color!), and there will be two evening events, including our famous Fashion Show. Dinner is included in the price of your admission. We'll have our Pop Up shop available for perusing, with employees available to help with anything you could possibly need!
Classes will include:
Introduction to Color:Color brings life and excitement to our knitting, yet many feel uncertain about how to approach color. The human eye is capable of discerning over three million distinct colors, yet most of us have untrained eyes. Learn about color from an artist’s perspective and begin a journey of enhanced perception. Laura presents color effects in tangible visual terms that illustrate why color combinations work or don’t work. While a basic understanding of the color wheel is useful, this class will not present wheel-based formulas. A new way of sorting color and seeing relationships becomes the basis for exploring color through knitting. You will achieve a deeper understanding of color and perception, and Laura promises you will never look at color in the same way again. You will leave understanding Laura’s favorite axiom: You don’t get WOW by doing the expected!
Flame Stitch Serape:
Channel your inner Missoni and learn a simple stitch that is fun to knit and enlivens the knitted surface. Perfect for exploring color combinations and using multi-colored yarns, this project-oriented class builds on what you learned in the Color class. Swatch with a wide variety of colors until you know just what you want, then select yarns that will bring your vision to life.
Make it Fit!:
Tired of spending all that time knitting only to have the finished piece not fit correctly? Join Laura for a fun-filled class where measurements and fit are demystified, leaving you with the tools necessary to knit successful projects. Each participant will get a full set of custom measurements, with tips on how to select the correct size and make any alterations needed. Sleeves always too long? Laura will show you why. Hems lower in front or back? Sweaters always riding back on your shoulders? Learn why and how to correct for these common occurrences and more. Wear a tank or close-fitting tee under your jacket or sweater & prepare to get to know yourself intimately!
Add a dash of flash… or a bit of bling… or just get to try a technique you haven’t tried before. Laura will offer ideas for a variety of accessories using simple approaches, plus some great ideas for how to style the finished pieces. Love to knit them but don’t know how to wear them? We’ll cover that, too! From short rows to interlocking triangles to pattern stitches, you’ll get to choose the perfect spice for you!
